Two Thousand
TwoThousand is a website and weekly eNewsletter for people who believe that there is more to Sydney than boats and botox. It’s compiled by a motley bunch who spend all of their time and most of their money exposing Sydney’s best bits. Content is uploaded in daily snapshots that cover albums, film and books; not to mention the odd opinion on coffee and pants. If TwoThousand were a cinematic character it would probably be FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, as it prides itself on investigative abilities, a dependence on coffee and a love of cherry pie. Melissa Klemke
Melissa is a Sydney Film Festival enthusiast from way back. In 1980 she attended her first Sydney Film Festival as a child attending a screening of 'Fatty Fin' the first of many festivals she was to attend in the future. Melissa has worked in both film exhibition and distribution and today has three young children of her own and is still a keen cinema-goer. Melissa writes daily at her blog Frills in the Hills.
Dov Kornits
Dov Kornits is the founder and publisher of Filmink, an Australian consumer movie magazine and website. He has also dabbled in film distribution, book publishing and parenthood. His love of cinema was ignited by '70s American cinema, in particular the films of Robert Altman, though he's not against guffawing at the latest Adam Sandler production.
Sevana Ohandjanian
Sevana studied Communications Journalism at UTS and is currently attaining her Masters in International Studies in German. She travelled to London in 2009 to see Blur reunite in Hyde Park and was so bored in Paris she went to the movies. Sevana is the web coordinator for the 2010 Sydney Film Festival and her pop culture ramblings can often be found in street press publication Drum Media.
Ian Barr
Ian is a Screen Production student at Macquarie Uni, midway through the last year of his degree. Formerly a writer for Filmink magazine at the age of 15, he considers his pullquote on the VHS jacket for Super Troopers a personal zenith to which everything in his subsequent life shall be measured against. Since then, he has been stalking Chauvel's cinematheque, scaring off video store customers with anally retentive 'knowledge', and generally being a headache to everyone who won't read this blog. Ian's writing can be found at Sydney Film Happenings, which is not as self-explanatory as it should be.
Emma Grogan
Emma Grogan is a frustrated desk jockey. She works as a Director with a large professional services consulting firm, has worked in the consulting industry for over 15 years, and holds a Masters of Organisational Psychology.
Outside of work, she leads a double life moonlighting as a film reviewer for the “unsophisticated” movie goer here. She loves all film genres, but particularly dramas, true stories, and documentaries. Emma is a regular at the Sydney Film Festival and is excited to be part of the team, and to have the opportunity to bring to you her unique, grassroots perspective.
Tristan Schumacher
Tristan Schumacher studies Media Arts & Production at the University of Technology Sydney where he co-founded the Skinny Pictures production company.
He has been a finalist in the ShoreShots Film Festival and Gold Award winner at the ArtsNorth Film Festival for his short film work, which has featured at the Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace and Dendy Opera Quays. His commercial directing work will shortly appear on network television.
Tristan currently reviews films for Vertigo Magazine and is delighted to be involved with the Sydney Film Festival, which he considers to be one of the best in the world. Check out his blog here.
Jim Poe
Jim originally hails from Oregon, USA and studied film in Los Angeles before moving to New York. He has worn many hats including writer, DJ, sailor, organic farmer and retailer. Most recently he worked at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival and edited the Sydney Film Festival Program Guide. His musings about film, music, culture and migrating to Australia can be found at jimpoe.wordpress.com.
